DATA CAPTURERS (X3)



PURPOSE

Health Systems Trust (HST) wishes to appoint three Data Capturers in Zululand District, KwaZulu-Natal, to support the District Department of Health in providing direct COVID-19 vaccine services as part of the Accelerating Development Against Pandemic Threats (ADAPT) Project in the district.

These are fixed term contract positions, renewable based on continuation of funding.

Sub-district location: Ulundi and Nongoma (1); Pongola (1); Abaqulusi (1)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Capture and accurately enter all relevant data from each facility into the database provided
  • Ensure a high standard of data quality through accurate and timeous data validation and quality assurance
  • Apply a data-quality audit toolkit, ensuring accurate Electronic Data Validation System (EVDS) data entry
  • Ensure that all ethical requirements are fulfilled
  • Export and e-mail data on a daily basis
  • Conduct daily back-ups of data
  • Print facility data reports
  • Interact with colleagues and project management to ensure fulfilment of project objectives
  • Interact with Department of Health and HST staff to capture relevant subject-related information
  • Photocopy and scan relevant study data
  • Undertake filing and administrative duties as required
  • Provide on-site mentoring to facility staff where gaps are identified.

REQUIREMENTS

Qualifications
  • A Matriculation exemption is a minimum requirement; a tertiary qualification would be advantageous. 

Experience
  • Experience in data collection and capturing; related experience within the public health sector would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with the public health sector and District Health System would be advantageous.
  • A valid driver’s licence is essential.

Competencies

  • Fast and accurate data-capturing and entry skills
  • Computer experience in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook applications
  • Excellent administrative, organisational and time-management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
  • Ability to liaise with people at all levels, internally and externally
  • Good facilitation and communication skills
  • Ability to speak, read and write in English
  • Sensitivity to cultural differences as well as political, confidential and ethical issues pertaining to patient information.

REMUNERATION

A salary package commensurate with the successful candidate’s experience and qualifications and in line with HST’s job grading system will be offered.
